What is an Aboriginality confirmation form?

The Aboriginality confirmation form is a certificate that acknowledges that you are known to your community as an Aboriginal person. Your Aboriginal confirmation form can be asked of you when applying for Indigenous specific services or programs.

To apply for Aboriginality confirmation through SCMSAC download the form below which included an application form and family tree form.

Please be advised that all Confirmations for Aboriginality and Membership Applications are to be lodged (posted or hand delivered directly) to the Executive Office, 73 North Street, Nowra. These applications are not accepted at any other location.

Aboriginality Form

A membership form is your application in writing to the Board of SCMSAC to become a member of SCMSAC. You must be 18 years of age, an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person who normally and permanently resides in the area between Helensburg NSW and the Victorian border ( South Coasts of NSW); or all such other locations as the directors shall from time to time determine.

What is a Membership form?

Members

3.1 Who is eligible?
A member must be:
a) at least 18 years of and age; and
b) an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who normally and permanently resides in the area between Helensburg NSW and the Victorian border ( South Coasts of NSW); or all such other locations as the directors shall from time to time determine.

3.2 how to become a member?
A person applies in writing:

a) A person is eligible under rule 3.1
b)The Directors agree
c) The persons name and date they became a member is put on the register of members.
d) The Directors may refuse to accept a membership application. If they do, they must notify the applicant in writing of the decision and the reasons for it.

3.3 Members right’s
A member:
a) can attend, speak and vote at general meetings
b) can be made a director
c) can put forward resolutions at general meetings
d) can ask Directors to call a general meeting
e) can look at the books an records of the corporation ( if the directors have authorised them to do this, or if the members have passed a resolution which lets them do this).

3.4 Members responsibilities
A member:
a) must follow the rules
b) lets the corporation know if they change their address
c) treats other members with respect

3.5 Liability of members
Members do not have to pay corporation debts if the corporation is wound up

3.6 How to stop being a member?
A person stops being a member if:

a) they resign in writing
b) they die
c) is not an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
