healthy school lunch ideas

Boori is participating in the NSW Health initiative: “Munch and Move”, which is a program aiming to support the healthy development of children by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced small screen time (e.g. watching TV or DVDs, playing on computers and small hand-held games devices). As such all meals provided by parents/ carers must meet the nutritional standards for children and include all five food groups. No chocolates, cakes, chips, lollies or other unhealthy foods are to be packed into your child’s lunch boxes. These types of foods will be returned home. If you are unsure what kind of foods you can pack for your child please ask educators for Boori Preschools “Foods for Preschool” information sheet.
Meal times are treated as social occasions. The educators always sit with the children during meal times to interact with them, provide help when needed and set a good role model for the children.
Please note: Our Centre is a NUT – FREE ZONE, no nut products are to be brought to preschool. As a precaution, any food brought into the centre which contains nuts will be disposed of at the Centre.
